G P Birla Library

Our library was established with the vision of Mrs. Nirmala Birla, President of the foundation to provide resources for transdisciplinary scholarship. It is located on the first floor of the GP Birla Centre and has a phenomenal collection of books from all over the world.

The library contains an exclusive collection of books on art, archeology, architecture, religion, culture, Indology and allied subjects. A rare collection of books on ivory, glass, jade, porcelain and interesting places of the world serve as important research assistance.

The primary purpose of our library is to provide resources and services in a variety of media to meet the needs of individuals and groups for education, information and personal development, including recreation and leisure.

Apart from broad collections, the library contains rare and exclusive books collected by Mrs. Birla over several years. One may even find books that went out of print a century ago! With their placement in the public domain, they serve to help students for research purposes.

We believe that libraries have an important role in the development and maintenance of a democratic society. They give people access to a wide and varied range of knowledge, ideas and opinions –aspects that are firmly embedded in the core institutionalisation of the space by Mrs. Birla.
